1. O you who feign affection though you spurn me,
And raise a barrier to deny our tryst,
١. يا عارضاً نفسَه وعارِضُه
يضرِب دون الوِصال بالحُجُبِ
2. For my distress you gave me cause enough,
My flight preceded any cause for this.
٢. أَنْبتَّ منه لسُلوَتي سبباً
يا هاجري قبل ذا بلا سببِ
3. So break with him who severs every bond,
Misfortune ties the knot of guilt so tight.
٣. فالْقَ به قطعَ كلّ ذي صلة
هذا كُسُوفٌ بِعُقْدَةِ الذَّنب
