1. I see the heart has become enamored with the beautiful women,
Even if it enjoyed itself in the days of youth.

2. And when strange worries settled in its homes,
It settled in the homes of those who dispel doubt and determination.

3. I was determined, so I hastened the journey, and I was not
Like the footprint that worry cannot reach.

4. So my mounts took me to the land of Maʿn, and they did not stop
Taking me to the land of Maʿn wherever it was pulled.

5. Haughty she-camels, had they not been subjugated for us,
Their haughtiness would have refused to be led.

6. We mounted the saddles of the smooth-gaited from them speedily,
In them the intention is to catch up in summer and spring.

7. Until they reached Sanaa they were haughty,
But then their ignorance went away from them and they desisted.

8. And the rain, when it covered the country with its direction
Was no more gracious to the people than the favors of Maʿn.

9. Maʿn upheld the dome of the religion after
We feared for its pegs that they would be pulled out.

10. It stood at the feared border, and Hashim
Exchanged thrusts of the swords soaked in blood.

11. The stand of a lord who refuses any scheme
Other than that which is most wondrous to those uninformed of news.

12. And there was no one in it like Muʿṭṭ who brought
Shame near with it and wasted the protected.

13. The enemies did not refrain from you out of anything left over for you,
But because they did not see in you something to covet.

14. They saw a fierce fighter whom they had tested
And alongside his deceit saw death and destiny among them.

15. If the war excited him, it did not confuse his greatness,
And the youth with fangs rushed from it and hurried away.

16. When he tightened the reins, none would see
At his throat the necks of the blue swords bared.

17. He has two breasts: the day of battle and the rain in both of which
God refused that they would not harm and benefit.

18. Maʿn really pounded the enemies until they became
The strongest of them unable to ward off disgrace

19. A noble of noble chiefs,his glory having branched out
From two branches of Nizar that bifurcated

20. So the traits of goodness in him were evident and completed
What five and four years completed

In every east and west, by your sword

22. The necks of the deceivers became subjugated
You trod on the cheeks of Hadramawt so hard

23. That its pillar of glory was shaken and collapsed
They then fell on flies, the falling of a group

24. Who see sticking to peace as lasting and better lodged
If hands were extended for the whole of war

25. They would suffice, but they did not extend a finger to war
I saw men the day of Mecca who raged against you

26. And shot at you a pile of arrows impenetrable
For no reason whatsoever except that you were

27. The most clement and generous to the bountiful and the bravest
So you came to be like the cutting sword, while they became

28. Scattered remains whose group became fragmented
I held fast to a rope from your strongly twisted ropes
