1. My longing heart and eyes contested over it
So my glances and heart left their imprints on it
١. تنازَع فيه الشوقَ قلبي وناظرِي
فأثَّر فيه الطَّرْفُ والقلبُ ناصِبُ
2. And from my patient heart eyes gaze upon it
With eyebrows like drawn swords guarding over them
٢. وتنْظُره من قلبيَ الصَّبِّ أعْيُنٌ
عليها لِمَحْنِيِّ الضُّلوعِ حَواجِبُ
