مسيل الصبح طم على الكواكب

1. The morning star spilt over the planets
As they thirsted for the journey of the sailing ships

١. مَسِيلُ الصبحِ طَمَّ على الكواكبْ
وقد ظمِئتْ إلى السَّيْرِ النَّجائِبْ

2. The train of your resolve shortened on a journey
With it the lofty specter, a close companion

٢. تقلَّص ذَيْلُ عَزْمِك في مَسِيرٍ
له طَيْفُ العُلَى خِدْنٌ مُصاحِبْ

3. With a twisted riverbed it kissed him
With its crescent the auspicious one and the planets

٣. بِوَرْيٍ أعْوجِيٍ قَبَّلَتْهُ
بغُرَّتِهِ الأهِلَّةُ والكواكبْ

4. The breezes flowed behind it until
They blew listlessly through its sides

٤. جَرَتْ مِن خَلْفِهِ النَّسماتُ حتى
سَرَتْ مُعْتلةً فيه الجَنائِبْ

5. Upon it is the chill of nights of union
And the rotating celestial sphere sent him the loops

٥. عليه مِن لَيالِ الوصلِ بُرْدٌ
وقد أهْدَتْ له الغِيدُ الذَّوائِبْ

6. When the specter waned he met
The wing of night in fear of the watchers

٦. إذا ما خَبَّ خِلْتَ الطَّيْفَ وَافَى
لِجُنْحِ الليلِ مِن خَوْفِ المُراقِبْ

7. His acquaintances appeared like gifts
To the face of the earth, approaching like watchers

٧. مَعارِفُه كأهْدابٍ تَبدَّتْ
لِوَجْه الأرْضِ تَدْنُو كالْمَراقِبْ

8. A speaker extolled it, transcending
For its movement the talismans among the ruins

٨. عَلاهُ مُحدِّثٌ قد جَلَّ عنه
لجارِيه تمائمُ في التَّرائِبْ

9. With resolve that the Indian
Fell short of its gleam, the boats were too small

٩. بعَزْمٍ يَفْرَقُ الهِنْدِيُّ منه
مَضَاءً قصَّرتْ عنه القَواضِبْ

10. And an opinion whose youth of thought was magnificent
To seek it the high ranks and positions

١٠. ورَأْيٍ زَفَّ بِكْرَ الفكرِ يَزْهُو
لِتخْطُبهَا المَعالِي والمراتِبْ
