1. I say to frivolity and youthfulness you have denied
Purity despite the spite of a despicable one being pardoned
١. أقول لِلَّهْوِ والصَّهباء قد مَنَعتْ
صَفْواً على رَغْمِ أنْفٍ للخَلِيعِ عَفَا
2. The devil has been absent from this affliction of ours
That is only because he grew senile with old age
٢. أغاب إبْلِيسُ مِن هذا المُصابِ لنا
ما ذاك إلاَّ لِطُولِ العمر قد خَرِفَا
