1. He came at dawn, refreshing the morning,
And gifted me violets and peach blossoms,

2. And scented my soul with the perfume of eloquence,
And weighed me down with lawful sweetness,

3. And clasped my heart with longing and yearning,
Nearly breaking my wings with desire,

4. For the Merciful - if He were to visit my night,
His light would expose the secret of dawn.
