And they wish them alive, agreeing

وان يعمهُم حياً مطبقُ

1. And they wish them alive, agreeing,
But he has seen, with his abandonment, the saddened one,

١. وَاَن يَعُمَّهُم حَياً مُطَبِّقُ
بَل قَد رَأَى بِهَجَرَ المُغَيَّقُ

2. Abu Fudayk has deviated from guidance, and his companions,
When they thundered and flashed,

٢. عَنِ الهُدَى اَبُو فُدَيكٍ فُسَقُ
وصَحبُهُ اِذ اَرعَدُوا وَاَبرَقُوا

3. And they were frivolous in their religion and defected.
So the morning found them in a plain of calamity,

٣. وَشَفتَرُوا في دِينِهِم ومَرَقُوا
فَصَبَّحَتهُم ذاتَ رِزٍّ فَيلَقُ

4. Blameworthy, in which the ignorant would stray,
With horses marching on and catching up.

٤. مَلمُومَة يَضِلُّ فِيها الاَبلَقُ
بِالخَيلِ تَمضِى قُدُماً وَتَلحَقُ

5. Nothing of them can be seen but the eye sockets,
Like armored vehicles over which the coats of mail flow,

٥. ما اِن يُرَى مِنهُنَّ اِلاَّ الحَدَقُ
كَرادِس تَترَي عَلَيها الدَّرَقُ

6. And lions in ambush above them, the most sublime,
And the Turks above the heads gleaming,

٦. وَاُسدُ غابٍ فَوقَهُنَّ الخَلَقُ
وَالتَّركُ مِن فَوقِ الرُّؤُوسِ تَبرُقُ

7. Like Indians, elevated in prestige,
Rising over them is a glitter and clinking of swords,

٧. كَالهُندُ وانِىِّ عَلاهُ الرَّونَقُ
يَعلُو عَلَيها لُمَعٌ وَسَفسَقُ

8. And the white in their right hands shining,
And withered among them a dejected elderly,

٨. وَالبِيضُ فى اَيمانِهِم تَأَلَّقُ
وَذُبّل فِيها شَباً مُذَلَّقُ

9. Flying above their heads are the thieves,
And the shiny ones above them fluttering,

٩. يَطيرُ فَوقَ رُؤسِهِنَّ السَّرَقُ
وَاللامِعاتُ فَوقَهُنَّ تَخفِقُ

10. And below them a resistant advancing,
And above it large bodies and neighing,

١٠. وَدُونَهُنّ عارِض مُستَبرِقُ
وَفَوقَها قَساطِل وَصِيَقُ

11. Stirred from beneath them is the narrow pass,
Seething from it in the bowels is sweat,

١١. يُثيرُها مِن تَحتَهِنَّ المَأزِقُ
يَجيشُ مِنها بِالوَجِيفِ العَرَقُ

12. So no weak fetus escapes from it,
They leave him in the middle of the mill stones panting,

١٢. فَلا يَنِى مِنها جَنِين مُزلَقُ
يَترُكنَهُ وَسطَ العَجاجِ يَشهَقُ

13. Transcending times and times rushing,
Leaving the expanse of the earth while it is narrow,

١٣. يَفُوقُ مَرّاتٍ وَمَرّاً يَمأَقُ
يَدَعنَ رَحبَ الاَرضِ وَهوَ ضَيِّقُ

14. Perplexing thereby the smooth-stoned courtyard,
Each a pile whose flesh is ripped,

١٤. مُعَضِّلاً بِها البَلاطُ الاَخوَقُ
كُلًّ طِمَرٍّ لَحمُهُ مُمَشَّقُ

15. The breast of the short one is a body, humpbacked,
It has horns and a twisted neck.

١٥. نَهدُ القُصَيرَي هَيكَلٌ شَمقمَقُ
لَهُ قَراً وَعُنُق عَشَنَّقُ
