Indeed, whoever gave you longing has also given us longing.

2. A cup brimming with separation and pain,
I wish I had a cup to quench my thirst.

3. A cup of reunion, whoever sips from it,
His eyes shine joyfully for his beloved.

4. One day I said, “O my hope, when
Will you generously grant me reunion?” You said: “Now.”

5. Longing made me drink from the heat of its passion,
Yet I was not sated, and my heart got drunk.

6. When we were done, and the specter of love was third between us,
The eyes of the full moon watched over us from above.

7. We dreamed of bounds of love that have no limits,
And we scattered longing and tenderness.

8. Reunion made me forget the pain
Of past times of suffering and estrangement.

9. O source of purity, O essence of beauty!
I hope time will restore what we once had.

10. Do not listen to the one who said he betrayed you,
For his words are lies and slander.
