1. Have your eyelids seen the like of it
A scene with sun and shade like a coquette's cheek

2. And brooks flowing between the rocks
Like lines of writing, their ponds and bubbles brighter still

3. With a meadow bending like a maiden's waist
Whose sides flowed forth like lines of prose

4. As though it were garlanded with a many-colored wreath
Of blooming flowers or saffron powder

5. A hope we attained on a hillside garden
Embroidered by the hands of the raining clouds

6. So that it and its flowers were like a crown above it
A king revealed on a green carpet

7. From it the gazers delighted in a delightful scene
Describing freshness from the gardens of paradise

8. How often it led one thought to another
And how often its beauty aroused the viewer

9. Had it not appeared to me among those spectacles
I would not have said, "Turn up the blond hill!"
