1. The evening welcomed a child, and the breeze sighed,
While companionship knitted our gathering and united us.

2. And flowers laughed at the weeping of a small cloud
Whose lightning swords shone brightly.

3. The river clapped its waves in rapture,
The branch danced and the dove cooed.

4. So take your ease, Abu Umran, in a garden
Where summer is beautiful and the square delightful,

5. O you who settled by the white sands
Where the valley of Al-Hima joins Al-Ajra’a,

6. The sun sets and its light disappears, but yours
Remains shining at all times.

7. When the sun’s light is gone, we take shelter
In your light, dispelling the night’s darkness.

8. When it set it relied on your rising
To dispel the expected gloom.

9. You felt safe from sunset, Moses, and I did not say
I wish, O Moses, you were Joshua!
