1. Basil gently sways on branches,
its scent makes cupfuls taste delightful,
١. وَرَيحانٍ يَميسُ عَلى غُصونٍ
يَطيبُ بِشَمِّهِ شُربُ الكُؤوسِ
2. like Sudanese wearing silk apparel
though foregoing turbans for their heads.
٢. كَسودانٍ لَبِسنَ ثِيابَ خَزٍّ
وَقَد تُرِكوا مَكاشيفَ الرُؤوسِ
