1. Moving mountains of sand and breaking hills,
Drinking seas raging and churning stills,
١. لَنَقلُ الرِمالِ وَقَطعُ الجِبالِ
وَشُربُ البِحارِ الَّتي تَصطَخِب
2. Unveiling ghosts or climbing the sky,
Are easier than asking a need from a guy.
٢. وَكَشفُ الغِطاءِ عَن الجِنِّ أَو
صُعودُ السَماءِ لِمَن يَرتَغِب
3. Counting the faults of a happy man,
Or losing a chosen and favored son,
٣. وَإِحصاءُ لُؤمِ سَعيدٍ لَنا
أَوِ الثَكلُ في وَلَدٍ مُنتَخَب
4. Are lighter upon a soul to bear,
Than asking a favor while hoping he'll care.
٤. أَخَفُّ عَلى المَرءِ مِن حاجَةٍ
يُكَلِّفُ غَسّانَها مُرتَقِب
5. When in need, should we ask him for aid,
He would make excuses and banners he'd raise.
٥. إِذا ما أَتَيناهُ في حاجَةٍ
رَفَعنا الرِقاعَ لَهُ وَالقَصَب
6. He has excuses upon excuses,
And excuses over excuses undisclosed.
٦. لَهُ حاجِبٌ دونَهُ حاجِبٌ
وَحاجِبُ حاجِبِهِ مُحتَجِب
