1. O Abū Saʿd al-Kawṣarī
Adulterer of his sister and wife

2. If he saw him complaisant
He called his wits a bridge

3. Or if he saw wine in his breath
He said, a leg with anklets

4. Or if he saw him sucking it
He said, foam with sugar

5. Or if he saw him smelling it
He said, musk with ambergris

6. The slave kindled his fire
And he is to the fire like tinder

7. A horseman forever behind him
In the rear guard
