1. Sulaima appeared and her rope broke
And they gave you provisions, though they left you no water skin

2. Salama said, where is the money? I said,
Woe to you! It met Al-Hamd (praise) and they became companions

3. Al-Hamd scattered my money amongst the rights
It left me neither blame nor any bits

4. Salama said, leave this milk to us
For children like the chicks of pigeons, tender

5. I said, keep it, in it there is joy for them
If no night visitor comes seeking the abodes out of hunger

6. When the guest arrived hungry and his wrists became emaciated
The children cried and our cooking pot sang cheerfully

7. This is my way and know my manners thus
Be pleased with it or be one of those who became angry

8. What is not missed and what - its pursuit - is missed
Sustenance will never elude me, that which is decreed

9. I strive to seek it and sustenance seeks me
And sustenance is more of a seeker of me than I of it

10. Can you find anything, if you were earnest in it
Like reward and praise, frequented and earned?

11. A people whose noble one is unique, whose horseman
Is unique, and whose poet is unique when traced
