1. How can I be patient when there are so many sorrows
And the caravan amidst the expanse with the delicate anklets has appeared

2. They came on the day of fever
In their white garbs

3. The white of tear-stained eyes
And the black of branches and eyelashes

4. So O meaning, with what
If attained, hope would be attained

5. Without the adorned ladies
For the sword, deprivation of blades

6. Seek salvation, and do not
Be fooled by the alluring gazelles

7. He knew nothing but
Tormenting his passion

8. And I did not complain of love
Fearing his reproach

9. And before intention
I kept his love secret

10. So when they departed
My eyes overflowed with pouring tears

11. They disclosed my secret
Can the wretched conceal?

12. Bring me happiness
An ocean overflowing with favors

13. If times make war on me
He is my sword and shield

14. So say to every proud one
Like my father Ya'qub, be

15. The one who perfected
While the whole world is imperfect

16. And long administered justice
And opposed oppressive times

17. Whose help cannot be attained
Even if followed by stars

18. When you mention war
He is the bold leader

19. And if you seek bounty
He is the generous bestower

20. By God, since they spent
No scale remains for the spender

21. Cite him as the example
Hatim's generosity is pretense

22. And one intending to travel
None but me did he consult

23. Saying, "Do you know my travel?"
They are seafarers

24. I said, "The secret is
With me, you'll find it summarized

25. If you come to a country of peace
And are met by noble youths

26. They are lines of elevation
And Yusuf ibn al-Qasim the title"
