1. The farewells or hard partings have narrowed the roads for me,
Indeed, the paths of reproach have become constricted.

2. Blame has come without names, and between us
Are concerns that intent has counted, and the abandoned.

3. And who can replace them for me? The white and the brown women,
The fine garments and the collar of a coat.

4. And each tall, speared man is apt in bearing it,
If he wishes, he makes it weep blood while laughing.

5. The brother of resolves - no cowards before them -
Brides, and steeds unrestrained by the reins.

6. He has a sleepy, blond wife who sleeps much,
Agile, when the audacious sleep - the nimble.

7. When it flows between the valleys and darkness,
No anklet except what stirs the bracelets.

8. And the expanse of a wilderness that the intent does not contend with,
You see death in it while it is unarmed, entangled.

9. And a wing of darkness - if hubbub were stirred in it,
The swords would not gleam in it, the lightening ones.

10. A gloom - if devils walked in it at night
To the secret, the meteors would not reach it.

11. My friend, do my tears and their flowing
Clarify an eye whose tears are coherent?

12. And I have a dwelling that comes and goes, and his love
For my patience, affection, or my secret, concerns you.

13. Ask the horses - did I spur them on at every goal
Which becomes easy for them, the pursuing ones?

14. And did they recognize me while besotted, perhaps,
Warding me off with their shoulders and flanks?

15. And I only turned away at the canal
When the battle clashed with the instructors.

16. Or my arrogance in the valleys of its dashing,
When death glanced askance at me, the destroyer.

17. Oh, mercy for poetry, its meadows are richer
As if they are rituals for the generous.

18. And today the thrones of poets have been demolished,
So neither pride is arrogant, nor glory established.

19. When people seize fortunes and the requests
Of a group arise while you are unarmed,

20. You see them, if you had a cannon,
As the sheds have blocked the dams.

21. So, oh state of oppression, be gentle or compromise,
For those bonds and shackles have stuck fast.

22. And oh pillar of increase withdraw or contend,
For between the purpose and destination lies an obstacle.

23. It carried Abu Al-Abbas those and this one
To where the stars cannot rise, the pillars.

24. The realm of thought is spacious, and the matter constricted,
The crucifix of the canal of patience, and the matter sighing.

25. And the peers share in discontent and pleasure,
Yet have no share of favors.

26. With the judge of the judges of the West and the son of his judgment,
Hopes have flirted while effervescent.

27. A young man whose request never wearied,
Even if he walked the path of the sea faring,

28. He looks upon the enemies from every side,
And dangers have been released from him, departing.

29. Facing the sublime while he is gentle in name,
And beneath the noble while he is lowly in manner.

30. It befits that his face does not transgress truth,
As the ancient and wise have contended before him.

31. And that people recognize the image of his justice,
As the fires of battle have borne the swords.

32. And that oppression avoid the side of its neighbor,
As the husband avoids the chaste bride.

33. The Commander of the Faithful refined him as a sword,
For each blood he spilt, even if shed.

34. And days confused him - attached to worries -
That disputed his possessions and kingdoms.

35. When fire meets kindling it blazes,
His hands, so destruction turns upon it.

36. When his ears hear, "Take heed!"
Neither generosity abandoned, nor might leaving.

37. And if his hands seize the rope of authority,
The glory is entrusted to him, established.

38. And if his eyes ignite before an action,
You see the eyes of a lion while laughing.

39. Speak to him in peace while between us
Are cheek-pieces that misfortunes cannot reach.

40. With the sign of what suffices the refugee, and perhaps
The ensuing clouds have taken oaths in it.

41. I see you - the star did not wake you and the guide star sleeps -
The intuitions of sincere love call to you.

42. They called and disseminated their joy and bliss,
My worries and the dawn lights have mingled.

43. The daughters of passion dictate it or draw him in,
My devotion is to them, and the camels their she-camels.

44. They gently converse, sometimes elucidating
The yearnings of enamored hearts that love you.

45. And I reckon they sung your name infatuated,
While the hands of the saddles nearly touch.

46. Thus the brilliance of dawn adorned them,
And the musk of tents imbued them.

47. Their pasture delighted every beauty as if
Necklaces were strewn among them.

48. In each belly is a lover glancing,
And on each back, a pasture they traverse.

49. To you Abu Al-Abbas - the goal of my praises -
Is to bless them, sublime and bless.

50. To you the saplings of hope lead them,
As the wretched crawled to meet you.

51. Necklaces of their necks and flowers of eyes,
Among them in some chests are loves.

52. So ordain for me some of your bounty, a quilt I will sew,
For I sew quilts of praises.

53. O Banu Qasim you have adorned time completely,
As its bosom adorned the undulating camels.

54. You raised the banners of their religion for the people of the West,
So the deceived could see, and the short reach.

55. Then say to the pouring rain over the family of Qasim,
“Do not pour on Baghdad - where are the pools?”

56. If hardship severs you, do not mind,
When events turn away from you, the iterable.
