بَرٍّ بوفدِ مدائحي ومَحامدي

والشعرُ يُبْضَعُ في أوانٍ كاسدِ

فكفَى بذلك أنه من شاهدي

بِثقافه خَطَلَ الزمانِ المائدِ

فسخَتْ بها لمؤمِّلٍ ولرافدِ

عجزاً وعيناه شِهابَا واقدِ

باتت صوارمُه بغيرِ مَغامد

67. His troops speartips did mow
Like grains under the reaper's harvest

٦٧. ومطوِّحٍ ركِبَ الخِطار فردَّه
أعمى تحيَّر ماله من قائدِ

٦٨. كفَّ الرَّعاعَ وجاء يطلبُ حاجةً
عسراءَ في كفِّ الهمامِ اللابد

٨١. بلِّغْ وليتَ رسائلي تقتصّها
شفتي وغائبِيَ المؤخَّرَ شاهدي

٨٢. أو ليت قلبي كان قلبَك أصمَعاً
في أضلعٍ صُمِّ العظامِ أجالدِ

٨٣. فأخوضَ بحراً من حميمٍ آجنٍ
