1. Glory is naught but through resolve, so be resolute
He who dares not take risks shall not gain spoils

2. How many a contented man halted at refusal
From the door of eminence and the council of the wronged

3. Delayed in merit, his right is diminished
And shown as the place of the incapable, though ahead

4. As though the gulf of my heart is not in
My chest, nor my sword of victory in my mouth

5. The foolish used to doubt my wisdom
And suspect me of incapacity, so very gloomy

6. And injustice marched towards me arrogantly
With greediness for my chastity and submission

7. And time humbled me when I was proud
And the eminent hinted to esteem

8. If you, my time, deny my status
I shall rise for it with determined resolve

9. And you called me slumbering yesterday
I shall shake the fanciness off my shoulders

10. Like a hawk shaking off the remnants of bonds
And I shall mount you riding from my determination

11. Bare, opening up the ambiguous path
In the rider’s hand a bridle of a brave knight

12. Whose face in racing has not been blemished
His whip and bridle suffice him

13. The steeds rush as if maddened
Plunging downhill from the mountain ridge

14. Beneath the darkness, a penetrating comet from them
Jinn of calamities have not been pelted with its like

15. Panting after the pursuer as though it is
A spark fallen from flint onto tender

16. I traverse with it the tracts of every smooth plain,
An unsullied virgin, never trodden and foreign

17. And if I keep the star safe in it I am not confused
What trace in it was lost or what landmark

18. And I have ridden to glorious quests before it
The backs of valor, whether I was safe or not

19. I gain glory with life, and he who dislikes
The love of life, thereby is disgraced or wronged

20. Amongst youths who share their waters
With companions, from the clouds' overflowing udders

21. And if their provision runs out
The very well-endowed amongst them turns destitute

22. Jostling to mount, some bored of weariness
While others unsatisfied, persisted

23. And the night wraps them in a sheltered corner
From us, and the darkness spreads them in a sheltered corner

24. And the star in the setting horizon is a
White banner, or the cheek of a restrained steed

25. Until we attained glory in its verses
And honor in the custom of the ahead

26. Noble, so that injustice is ashamed of our honors
While our appearance is on a crumbling decline

27. As though our long arms were suspended
From the minister’s rope, pledged and forbidden

28. And as though our delight is the cheer of his face
And our purpose from attaining him is the allotted share

29. The opinion of the discerning advisor was not
The cleavage of the bottle before him with filler

30. Manifest on its blemishes, accustomed
To not obeying the steadfast or restrained

31. Proceeding, seeing that delay is disgrace
The eminent has not glimpsed the face of ahead

32. The banner fluttered over the cheekiest of foreheads
Good tidings of spoils before the encounter

33. It meets the canal with an outpour from his sword
And his tongue’s edge increasingly dispraises

34. And the kingdom’s might from it extends with an arm
Delving ahead of the destroying swords

35. Turbans are adorned when he leans back resting
And accounts dwindle at the time he sleeps

36. And he returns the bosom of time gently
Its fingers grazed by the sheep’s soft wool

37. So white the bridle greens at its touch
And the forehead of the swarthy steed grays

38. And if politics hustled, it is backed
By his opinion with the side of a sturdy mountain

39. And if kings called to spend their pure wealth
Supplication for the kingdom would be most protected

40. They name the best title-bearer and assign to him
The crown of pride on the anointed’s forehead

41. And they delegate their affairs to him kindly
Heeding their incident’s rights as the elder statesman

42. Good for the countries’ ailments if injustice crept in them
An unresolved affliction spreads

43. Mother of ministries birthed him a horseman
After difficult labor and isolation

44. Well-trained, reviving its original traditions
And detailing what had not been detailed

45. He masters the ministry’s pens, served by the pens
With a thousand crowned led by a turban

46. God grace you, and the canal divides by you
And horsemen against horsemen hurl

47. And the steeds stumble in the fray with their heads
Covered in suits of mail darker than dark

48. And over your frenzied nerves is composure
And over war’s foolishness is composed manner

49. And the trails of trains are reckoned by its cargo
Steps of water in the lake, starry

50. Haughty, its tale slides with slick tongues
Slick as granite on a starry night

51. No cowardice touched you, rather
They ruled by merit for the brave

52. How many necks have you severed with your sword that were not
So when you triumphed, pitied those who did not pity

53. And if bitter refusal said to you “take revenge”
Your noble manners said “nay, be forebearing”

54. A law of pardon you alone uphold of its creed
A virtue none before you had yet ahead

55. So that the innocent may well prefer
To turn himself to you despite the criminal's reputation

56. The land is not reformed but by an unbiased
Arbiter who quenches with two cups, its sweet and bitter

57. Wakeful, spreading a charming hand generously
Be it for their rights from spoils or debts

58. If it floods, it is a spring of dew
Or if parched, it is a spring of blood

59. And people are either ambitious or ascetic
So master them by sword or coins

60. Time laughed at you after its sullenness
And your justice illuminated the gloomy times

61. And every intractable virgin humbled herself to you
Thereby neglecting men, and mothers

62. How much bounty you retroactively attached
To previous ones, and strung on a necklace

63. And gifts you exceedingly spent without
Matching it after with blame of the regretful

64. I am a plant your bounty watered after barrenness
And my season rose up fixed with you

65. You saw where I lacked and heard me
While deaf to me or blind was everyone but you

66. You enriched me with your eternal river
Without needing the stingy’s measly gifts

67. And you lifted off me the humiliation of villains and their drivel
My lips with a sea of your gift inspired

68. And you staunched my prolonged thirst from them
As though your right hand had staunched my blood for me

69. I used to shun praising kings
And begging whomsoever of them

70. Stingy ones do not pity my wrath
Nor do I please at the generous one's gift

71. So you moved my lingering trait
And breached my condition of scarcity and thrift

72. And you granted me what I have not attained, so I knew
My poetry’s qualities in you I had not known

73. And I wore your blessings, some of which
I straightened up to thank the benefactor

74. So if my conscience obeys you or the daughters of superior intellect
In their slowness to speak, eloquently expressed to you

75. And you possessed of my praise what they had not
Except through straining beyond comfort

76. And by spreading thriving praise of my reputation
You witnessed unmatched advancement of mine

77. And you championed the truth of me without conformity
And judged with equity without an arbiter

78. And if I remain, striking wonders shall you hear
Not given before me by faculties of any speaker

79. Beauties bred in their interiors for you
Amongst singular men and the peerless

80. The envious decree by necessity
For the high-flying merit ahead of the ahead

81. Submissive before you on the day of their tune
My mouth the bridle of every hearing deaf

82. They jostle at the lip of its verses
As pilgrims crowd the sides of Zamzam

83. Time stored in the treasury of your kingdom’s era its treasure
Until it became shining with bliss

84. And there emerged with prosperity a nobler ascendant
From its horizon, and you arrived with gladder arrival

85. And you dressed for celebration in two robes of fortune
Two patterned brocades amidst threaded and dotted

86. Characterizing your height between Arabized past
In tongue of itsjourney and incoming foreign

87. So time took pride in you until
Every day ties back to the days of your rule

88. And people’s eyes from you are night blind
So I seek refuge for your glory from eyes of stars

89. May its shadows never divert from us
It is the refuge of the glowing and haven of the gloomy

90. And time is devoid while your eternal rule remains intact,
No ruin or decay

91. And the most virtuous ascendant rose with fortune:
You arrived with the most joyous arrival

92. And you dressed for the two festivals in robes of fortune,
Two patterned brocades amidst threaded and dotted

93. They feature your stature between a fluent past,
In language of its journey, and a comprehensive incoming,

94. By you time took pride until all of it
Is a feast belonging to the days of your rule.

95. And people's eyes are blinded from you
So I seek refuge for your glory from eyes of the stars.
