1. Do not covet the sun with your hand,
For envy brings no gain.

2. The admirer of its beauty
Gets only sorrow and gloom.

3. It sets and rises, eternal,
While men fade and die.

4. I see lost souls
Seeking what they'll never find,

5. Thinking status and fortune
Are theirs to claim and assign.

6. But time exposes their folly -
Would that their rage might end!

7. Each wounded heart
Is balméd by the body's mend.

8. It cools my torment
If fire itself grew cold.

9. Alas no cure for this sickness
Except where Muhammad told.

10. Gone - youth's lost chance,
The prime of life now past.

11. False hope once nourished
By luck's embrace outlasted.

12. Green shoots of spring
Renew with nature's gifts.

13. Vain mirages lit desire
Till day reality lifts.

14. The moon is lost, the blackest night
Where once your white torch burned.

15. Most generous, most true of you
May rightly be "Chief" earned.

16. His signs need nomimicry.
The bare path shows the test.

17. No armor saves when mighty claws
Set out to tear your breast.

18. Truest heart, tied tight
Against the spears of blame.

19. No treasure's left unsacked
Where once a caravan came.

20. Most binding oaths he makes
Are spread without provisions laid.

21. Blood money at his feet,
Ransoms by his hand are paid.

22. When foes united and you alone,
What can be done? Lead on!

23. Confusion reigns in their conceit,
The guide o'erturned, the goal gone.

24. Perfection cannot be divided -
Take all or none instead.

25. uniqueness never to repeat,
While earth gives birth to dead.

26. Pilgrim sheds his garb but there
No nakedness is found.

27. O Kufa where we dwelt,
Mysterious treasure mound!

28. Just one man, one land
And riders crossing motions vast.

29. Their goal: to come and touch his tomb
And help heal troubles past.

30. Swift mounts they race here,
Yearning burning in their chests.

31. My heart melts like tallow,
Spent wicks give no warmth left.

32. What solace patience gives!
Though fate may quickly toss.

33. When absent who needs credit
For triumphs gained and lost?

34. How long till we meet again?
All things have their season.

35. O bringer of such bounty -
Gifts received pass reason.

36. My excess spoiled your grace.
Giving sometimes means less.

37. Hold back? But to give all -
Listen, update I bring.

38. Forever to apprise anew!
Beyond all current sorrows

39. Glad tiding that give joy so true!
Not fasting in consolation

40. Of your death - forbid!
Years elude all count, only

41. God's timelessness amid.
If lifetimes lived in fortune,

42. Ever sitting at your side...
I'd never stand here humbled,

43. Ready your greatness to confide.
Maybe I'll rise tomorrow?

44. Today's brother is tomorrow's kin.
This life a simple stopping point,

45. Each night leads to new dawn.
