1. Who is my helper while time is my adversary
And who is my advocate while nature is injustice

2. And my excuser from the aloofness of my soul though
Aspiration is a branch whose fruit is anxiety

3. Every day there is fruitless endeavor
My worries sit while determination gets up

4. And a need in the heights that I seek
From an enemy whose rule is oppression

5. I ride the meteors of hopes but they
Make the nights dark without them

6. How the times are prone to corruption when
It is told "Justice is in your right hand"

7. As if it swore a day it will not
Give a virtuous person a share

8. Look at it one day when its perversities return
To every dissolute immoral one, a protector

9. There must be an attentive look
In which the star is wiped with ease

10. I will reach the one whom scum suits him
Or in him is hostility to enemies

11. Coward of night wandering, came haggard
And for the dawn over him, swords unsheathed

12. As if they are, and the waves surge with them,
Ships stirred under them the sea

13. You think their riders will perish with them
A raft made of wood, its planks joined

14. Ready for them, wherever you see them
Disheveled, his shirt torn, its embroidery erased

15. With three children, staying with them forever
Despite the scarcity of his livelihood, sheltering them

16. Poverty throws him down, his zeal broken
Into the fears of annihilation

17. An insight into souls, their obedience
To fate, when it is decided, submission

18. So he took from them the one whose determination settles in
Greatness as if it is the bone itself

19. If deprivation had not tempted her, he would have
For him and the orphans, in earning it, delight

20. He shot her so she trotted exhausted
As if the sight of her galloping, fasting

21. A brutal driver pushes her
Fear and a stallion whose whip is painful

22. She obeys him the day she fears him and
Defies him otherwise while her abode is peace

23. So he is her guide when she wanders
A confederation gathers the next morning

24. She takes us forcibly in her stride
Unhindered by the howdah's enclosure

25. Roaming the wilderness, no path cleared for her
No landmarks to follow

26. O you who saw a flashing light in the evening
That saddens the hilltops and darkens

27. The spark of south wind ignites it
And the crust of night beneath it, embers

28. The land smiles though it frowns
Breach to it, to which life is injustice

29. Its glow reminds me of days on the
Meadow which passed as if a dream

30. Is there anyone headed to the wilds without wishes
O flag of longing, after us knowledge

31. How many a stop did I make on a hilltop, and in the
Soil, scent, and in the breeze, sickness

32. I had with the ruins a conversation
From which I understood what the ruins told

33. As if my poetry violated its treaty
So its vocabulary articulated to me the foreign

34. And in twisting, a doe whose count
Of beauty surpassed so her full moon overflowed

35. She shot but did not falsify her contender
An arrow-like glance of her eye, an arrow

36. I seek the love of days, though their
Darkness, can birth be bereft of bleakness?

37. How can time apologize for violating
Me while within itself is its own crime

38. If only the brothers themselves sufficed me
They did not empower me against harm nor did they pelt

39. Time heard and responded while my
Supporter against my call became deaf

40. The flow of words fails me, so I do not
Listen, while in my ribs is distress

41. I love the enemies but I set up
My forbearance, a fortress, if only they were chaste

42. My hearing overlooked so their nonsense got lost
Many a fool, killed by patience

43. It is wondrous to ignorance how it gave leeway
To pillars while it shunned the steps of wisdom

44. Sweet to a people are the tastes of what they have
While to money they have no taste

45. It was complete though their amulets
Were not cast upon men who led and were not perfect

46. The fleet-footed assembly whose glory
Is a bent spear and humpbacked anxiety

47. Awakened, his fancy is certainty, when
A group became anxious, their certainty a pelt

48. Sweet the wings of the tongue, bitter the
Fruits of civility, playful its taunting

49. A jewel for the friend, an anklet
For the enemy, not softened by foreignness

50. Of the goodness of people, the father and their
Most generous mother, though the father is blamed

51. Glory does not equal its aspects
So the maternal and paternal uncle equal

52. Their wording intensifies and their
Pens, deaf even before they cast

53. The nights twist with them when they rage
As if their names twist it

54. For them over every nation a trace
As if it were on its forehead, a mark

55. If they took to sins persistently
They were specific, and if they showered dew, it was general

56. When frightened they hurled with their fright
Behind what they bridled and what they reined

57. The whites of their faces refuse the stigma of
Shame bare though like lances erect

58. Their cheeks shine suns of daylight
Lit at night above which are completeness

59. Whenever traits conflicted in birth
The son of glory is their traits

60. The rememberer before seeing him
A kisser before his palm the total

61. You are my share of time and releaser
Of my aspirations, seal and end

62. If events unravel me, in your soil
Is my pride and growth, tremendous

63. You knew me the moment you stood for me
While the people, about my sitting, were mute

64. And chose me before competing with me
While patience and composure did not please me

65. Insight that suffices with its glance
As the wolf, its retribution suffices it to scent

66. They ransom you, satisfied with their stations
That they be elevated in them, though not lofty

67. Their honor pleases though if they concealed
To cover their baseness, it would suit them to bury

68. If you erred in passion, they erred together, and if
You squandered money wastefully, they squandered

69. Who built what you built in extravagance
Rushed, in his money's home, to demolish

70. Like spear tips, your quarters remain unscarred
While in events ascends the wreckage

71. Neither did misfortunes assail your land
Nor did the direction of your love ignore me

72. Nor did a night visitor transgress to you
Its wound in a happiness, a blemish

73. And the congratulations hurried to your land
With a sincere praise, its stringing pearls

74. Carried in their houses every
Unmarriageable woman, her cheeks rosy

75. Her lineage, of their women, Mudhar
And her grandfather, of their fathers, Jusham

76. She would please you even if she touched none but you
For her clan's sake, the pelting of stones

77. Purely for you, no deception mixed with her
Nor under her praise, blemish

78. My envious enemy hears her so listens while in
His ears from the impact of her weight, deafness

79. She justifies in his throat and irradiates him
With rage for she is the witness and poison

80. When the narrator chants her, the blind incline to him
So the deaf listen to his voice

81. As if she were sanctum of eulogy, never
Missing the touching and kissing

82. You are my fate from time and opener
