10. When he hides in modesty and languor
Musk takes the place of his perfume's diffusion

11. I steal him stealthily, not mixing with him
The slanderers and spies

12. I've not seen an honest eye before me
Go astray, so I guided it with scent and wind

13. Oh wonder! He violates me with my weapon
When an ardent glance shattered my composure

14. He hunts me while I stumble
Though I've hunted his lions, a formidable hunter

15. He threw my liver and left, his hands
Bloodied with my blood, so they called him the wounded one

16. He sent with the consoler a phantom
Showing generosity while its sender's stingy

17. When archery becomes difficult, he shoots weakly
So those wounds bled painfully

18. He said, how much despair while you live
And how much does the wealthy one seek from the poor?

19. I complained and saw a strong man
So I said to him, does the healthy one complain?

20. Why, O phantom, did your abandonment blame me
When the far-reaching journey allowed our meeting?

21. How so, when between us a thread of love
I approached you, and the land is vast?

23. You blamed a generous king
Whose return to my saddle the Messiah will hasten

24. And you came with attainments that neither the sea
Nor the pouring rain could reach halfway

25. God protected the son of Manjaba protecting me
When the shepherd was weakened and frail

26. His generosity remedied my destitute state
When the patches were feeble over the rents

27. He took charge of my needs when the comforters
Were preoccupied, and the loyal ones failed

28. His ready aid triumphed, so his
Rising stars and auspicious planets shone

29. My praise settled on a people who did not waver
And he sang it, enchanted by the eulogy

30. As if poetry did not speak clearly but to a living one
Other than him, and all of it inarticulate stuttering

31. Generous, changing in his different states
So neither ease nor relief could be seen

32. When a market for his generosity stood up
Every merchant in it profited

33. Trained in sovereignty by the departed
Never resting in his fervor

34. Flowing copiously in its arenas
Like the outpouring tears of morning

35. He confused people on the path of glory
As a guide between his eyes beckoned

36. And he grasped the rope, made bitter and slackened
The brother of Tamiim, a forgiving avenger

37. A day of safety, he's a drinker of barley broth
A day of injustice, a bread sopper without sipping

38. Abu Hassan, your enemy whom fate cast
With ochre and fervent pottery

39. To the deeply rebellious beloved whom

To kindle admiration in her beauties

41. He charges a boulder with his most hollow lust

A secret that no desirous ear has heard

And my hopes for union reached him

44. So if you mute the days' doubts about me
With your aid, though disasters scream at me

45. And overlapping needs did not test you against me
Coming and going by day or by night

46. While others carried my hopes thirstily
Upon them, though no tablets bore them

47. You visited, turning away from my virtues
So my morning stars were lost to you

48. You abandoned me, not counting a sin against me
With excuses, though they lack clarity

49. I blame him to transfer and awaken him
As the painful day tosses and turns

50. How much you've overlooked to preserve what
Came, covering up what's shameful if hidden

51. So endless repeating tales do not miss you
Dwelling in horizons or wandering round

52. They have a climbing path in your eminence each day
Shedding over reputations their stinking scent

53. They rise in mountains endlessly
And the outpouring rain hurls them into seas

54. Days of celebration pass over you
Among them the blessed and the auspicious

55. With the beauty of splendid festivities that were
Necklaces adorned with beads and pendants

56. Tidings that your lifetime of glory
Counts double what Noah's centuries numbered
