1. Perhaps she has a secret with the two eagles,
So let the airplanes pass by.

2. Confident riders of wishes,
And show them what news has killed them.

3. She waves longingly, thinking it is a matter for her
In her travel, while she wants something else.

4. To her eyes, secrets are all the same
Whether the moon has set or the full moon has risen.

5. And if they did not rip through the darkness of night
With the blackness of their forms, they would not have been created red.

6. The robe falls from her shoulders,
A hovering one, as if her camel litters were hair.

7. When she sends out messages for her needs
They would bring you to her, a non-virgin or a virgin.

8. They would be intercessors for her whims
That provoke her and would be a dowry for her.

9. We seek glory behind honor, either
We attain it or we reach an excuse for it.

10. And water that holds back the breath
And with which pleasures are sought - burning.

11. She came to me, disturbed, with the rain shower
With remains of summer - turbid.

12. I find its unpleasant drink sweet
When I compare it to humiliation - bitter.

13. And a house of villages whose inhabitants were ennobled,
They force life - forcibly.

14. I lodged there, and for people it had riches,
And I was content with their generosity and left poverty.

15. And like the fillies of a lively clan,
They recounted its spears and were restless.

16. They return good except that a saying
Makes the suspicious think evil of them.

17. I was alone with their sleep but did not use
My hand as a pillow, nor did I turn away.

18. And I left full of love and filled
My eyes with what I entrusted them and filled my chest.

19. And for a composer, stubborn,
I tricked her obstinacy until she settled.

20. The rhymes die with the death of their speaker
And memory of me and the praised one remains.

21. So I became eloquent in it as if
I was inarticulate in Babel and uttered magic.

22. I sought for it from the youths a sacrifice
To be the slaughtered for its versified necklace.

23. Ibn Ayyoub was no longer my choice,
Since I thoroughly probed the people.

24. And I did not go around the horizons except
I found you, wherever I sought the free.

25. I avoided, thanks to you, passion in my old age, as if
I avoided my intoxicated youth.

26. And I attached my friendship to you
To a strong rope, twisted tightly.

27. I called you while disasters were taking place,
My distracted soul, driving me back and forth.

28. And the daughters of patience had left me,
As if I was never a son-in-law of patience.

29. So you were my passionate brother and most affectionate comrade
And my soul a helper, and built with piety.

30. You carried the burdens of time from me,
Releasing me from them completely.

31. Are the favors I owe you paid out of
Affection or paid out as a vow to them?

32. I gestured to your hands so you poured forgiveness,
When tired hands had given up on forgiveness.

33. And when the nights had snapped at me,
You showed me friendship and paid off ten.

34. Virtues whose limits were not competed for
Though the winds strove for them, preserving them.

35. And manners cleansed of any deceit -
I was drunk with them and did not violate any pledge.

36. You possessed their account as lawful inheritance,
So they became for you an established right.

37. Fathers, and fathers of glory among them
We enumerate back to you in throngs.

38. By the life of those who envy you! And does
The envy of perfection leave them any life?

39. They are worn out by their hatred, and I
Have the widest excuse for those who envied you.

40. Reproach me for falling short if I falter describing
What you have endowed or am remiss in gratitude.

41. For upon me is only the effort of speech,
And upon me is not a single raindrop when it rains.

42. Moreover, the wild rhymes have turned from me,
Like the entourage of one pleased and delighted.

43. Greetings come and go to you,
With their large crowds down through the generations.

44. When it rains, you see the clouds white
With what they praise, and horizons - green.

45. As if a gentle rain from them
Was poured at your door, so withhold what fragrances you wish.

46. You count time as New Year’s, feast,
And fasting returning, forever and breakfast.

47. So you accompany it with something more lasting than it
In the world, and longer-lived in it.
