1. She built a guarantor of the covenant upon my heart
Reminding me of nearness in the state of distance

2. So say to her keeper, even if he is sincere
My loyalty to her is more fortunate even if she betrays me

3. My friend, what ails the wind that blew sick
Did it catch cold or carry my passion?

4. I gathered from the two illnesses what rugged cliffs
Cannot diminish when the sun descends

5. Yearning, but who can unite me?
And a helping hand, but who is the glorious man?

6. So no love, but fortune reached you in your share
Lovers and fortune participated in prevention

7. And my time named my patience composure
You ceased to exist after me, so spare yourself

8. Just as those before me blamed you, I blame you knowing
That you are prone to blame after me

9. Yet transcend for me by your flowing to it
If your circumstances flow to it, I am prepared

10. If I seek help from a friend and find him
Disappoint me, so I seek other than him as I desire

11. And if life passes among friends without him
My sufficiency is in God's knowledge in that, and praise

12. And I don't know the praised one who didn't reward me
When I say good, indeed that is the opposite

13. The most deserving among them in my eyes for what I compose in verse
Is he whose benevolence has passed counting me

14. So if the days are barren to my pasture in him
And tarnish the clear water from my stream

15. I say to my hopes, fearing their despair
Riding the back of patience is nearest to propriety

16. You would wander, and if not for your fortunate face
Your lamp in the darkness would not be a star of Bani Saad

17. Abu Al-Qasim grant me a hearing
And stop for me the delay of my fortune at its limit

18. I was generous with my poetry before praising you
Finding with the youth of my speech every curly-haired attainer

19. When I say "Where is generosity?" its stinginess recites
Time erased a quarter with erasure from India

20. The sun blames it for light, arguing
Against its prevention, and the water in heat for cold

21. Your seas overflowed while it dried them up
If only my poetry knew the extent of your generosity

22. And I had in poetry with you a state
But its stay was brief, the state of roses

23. I remain while no lover of yours is fulfilled except me
I alone suffer estrangement among them, lonely

24. Why then are you satisfied with me and glory for a stance
Where the tears of despair crowd upon my cheek?

25. And I do not cease to demand my due from it
How much I demand while I carve from my skin!

26. Perhaps fulfillment will stand with me at a point
That relieves me, so I have a solution to draw out the promise

27. Fulfillments whose deadlines lengthy delays meet
So expedite the fulfillment or the refusal!
