1. Though she sought excuses and evasions
The tale-bearer relayed to her, so she rebuffed me

2. He exerted himself but exceeded the limit
And multiplied, so she doubted though he willed brevity

3. And said, yet she did not accept, but rather blamed
That he only said it so she would accept

4. And cast it off saying I asked, so did he see
For him blame like mine for love like hers, tranquility?

5. Shall I willingly cast off her love from my heart
Though if it's love, it's heavy on hearts

6. God refused and the loyal heart in its covenant
And intimacy - if love is counted, it's first

7. Oh friends of my passion on the day of Soueiqah
Be gentle, though you don't make happy, so be calm

8. Ask the gazelle of the valley, for none is like her
Though the testifier of virtues be the most eloquent

9. Is it you who commanded the moon to split the darkness
And taught the branch of acacia to sway

10. And forbade on the day of separation a moment's pause
For a lover who thought parting allowed

11. You brought together the burning of tears and love-pain
And the two only come together to kill

12. Awaken my eye for me and carry the burden of sorrow
On the heart - for the heart is most patient of tribulation

13. I see you with the face of the sun though we're distant
So I'm content with its likeness and imagining

14. And I recall a sweet intoxication from your approval
So I don't drink sahba except as an excuse

15. Happy is love for the Malikiyyah - it
Is cheap, whatever is dear to me is expensive to it

16. I clung to it as a newborn babe and growing child
And I grew old though love for it never grew old

17. And singled it out in love, so my heart never
Even if peerless ones are found, changes

18. May God shepherd my heart - it's not failed one who was unjust
And make it patient in adversities and forbearing

19. And honor my loyalty to a friend, for it's
Little, for states to change

20. And make my days easy on me, for I
Contend with one who languishes, so I wither

21. And people of a time with no affection between them
When they feel secure, they are more cunning and cunning

22. A hypocritical friend or virtuous enemy
When disease is hidden, it becomes more maleficent and knotty

23. In ambush for the evil they plot
When they find a path to evil, they slip

24. If they see surplus wealth on a man one day
They walk in envy, or spend the night starving and restless

25. And in the land, due to them, are way and recreation
So for me - if I could journey and roam!

26. But behind me are powerful pulls
I fear for its reins that they may be severed

27. And hopes suspend me in the heights of glory
So I make them, from them, refuge and fortress

28. Yes - in the pillar of religion and its champion
Wealth, purpose - though I'm thin, I'm neglected

29. And in his white hand, its water drips
A spring that turns aridity green, thriving

30. In the abode, from the Abode of Peace, crowned
Eclipsing the houses with his shining light

31. You see the beads of rule on his brow
Stars of light, radiance filling the horizon

32. Bringing souls to death, masked,
Then giving them life by a name curled in tresses

33. If they cover the blessing, his sword rises
And if they ask for pardon, it kindly pardons

34. Near to the Protector, mighty in his might
Too hard for the enemies' sneers to attempt ease

35. If he favors, he gives his forbearance, clarifying
And if he intends, he executes his command hastily

36. He grasped the forelock of the world and managed its affair
Discerning, correcting the matters equilibrium

37. The necks of the lands obeyed him, and hearts
Turned to him eagerly, not swerving

38. And destinies submitted to him until they acted
According to his order, rising or falling

39. If he sought the enemies, he unleashed hosts
Wild for onslaught, host following host

40. His status in place of sword and spear sufficed
So had he wished one day for panic, he'd fight unarmed

41. And how much custom of victory with him
Containing, in its continuity, undertaking

42. And of signs that rose confirming his rule
Though feet almost slipped

43. Your majesty of the two realms appeared through it
And its miracle, until we thought you a messenger

44. God saw the earth in its conduct was better
With you, the people, a finer assembly

45. And you house in your every affair
Turning to Him in devotion, humbling yourself before Him

46. So He made you relief in the strait of woes
And gave you refuge in perils, shelter

47. How many an ingrate whose neck's captivity to your blessings
That assumed them never rose to what he'd undertaken

48. You repeatedly forgave his transgressions
Looking upon him with pardon until he trespassed

49. And yesterday they plunged into discord and roused
Against you - impossibly! - separation

50. But the feebleness of opinion availed them naught
While you only gained strength and roots

51. So ask about them - driven scattered refugees
Seeking your sword's flat or slain, terrified

52. Never has one who opposed you been farther in wretchedness
And more evil days and fouler lodging

53. Never have the banners and your name, their adornment
Encircling earth, plain and hill, ceased

54. Until you see the whites of kings and their blacks
Standing, on the others, upon your carpet, paralyzed

55. And you attained in your two stars - O full moon - all
You hope for in a star rising on the horizon

56. The old and presently aligned, your light grasping
Until upright and perfected

57. For they were on the enemies two curving swords
Your likeness in what they innovated and responded

58. And reinforced you - the squadron firmer in its flank
And loftier in feet if stirring for combat

59. And multiplied through sons who sniff the breeze
Dainty, roaming the world and printing in the world

60. For you are of a people kingship dwelled among
Then never shifted, after alighting, roaming

61. Their roots are victorious in their branches
If another of them rises, he is first

62. For you over people's necks are covenants
Too difficult in examination to be dissolved

63. In their palms the keys to this sustenance
And the victory of God's religion, shining white, tattered

64. For they don't witness war unless injustice increases
Nor buy praise unless expensively

65. Do you know, O King of Kings, like the tale
I was tested with yesterday while the noble are tried

66. My being content with provisions in thrift
And forsaking the doors of kings in withdrawal

67. And my excellence being oppressed and my uniqueness violated
Fearing harm and degradation

68. The riffraff speak ill of me to you
And suggest I've amassed concealed wealth

69. And provoke regarding my poverty - and you are the one who sees
That the like of me ought to be rich and endowed

70. But it never changed a quality of your nobility
You were honored with which, except little, no and no

71. And when the talebearer strove and came to you lying
About me wrongfully - you were loftier and more just

72. He came to you with lies, opening his mouth with them
So you filled his mouth with rebuttal - shame and disgrace

73. He rushed it, bringing its sin upon you
But I see you are Truth, so be patient

74. Yet you did not gentle me, revealing my innocence
Nor examine my story and ponder

75. And weighed with mention of money your glory in the height
So the weighing of glory to you was heavier

76. And judged an opinion - pure, inspired
When applied, never unequaled, well-executed

77. So truth from me made you content when you knew it
With clear proof, I did not argue or contend over it

78. Then if a whim from its ways alarmed me
Shaking my side, I'd be apprehensive

79. I was detained, but it was an honoring detention
Enobling my repute, a captivity beautifying

80. I've seen none hosted, honored like me
Nor gaining glory from where he's been humbled

81. If a people count the captivity of a night a setback
Truly, I was set back from people, advancing

82. And this stance was caused by my alarm
Though I was heedless or negligent of it

83. A place the stars desire, esteeming,
Seeking descent and alighting to it

84. And for the brow of the sun - if it slid worshipping
Or came to your soil, kissing it

85. I'd wear it as a robe whose splendor
In praise of you, trailing, adorns me

86. It will know - he who dragged defamation - that he
Through hating me, attained what benefits me

87. He planted by insinuation in me hot soil
When cultivated, it produced exacting, deadly crops

88. When the villain is branded with a brand
Of blame remaining even if forgotten

89. So he was wretched, failing with you
While I won - you, bestower of favor

90. Appoint in me the custom of your Sibak's calm
Accustomed to request and pour down

91. And defeat my adversary by an ennobling command
Securing for me thereby immediate guarantee

92. And compensate my ruin and my poverty
That I find what you made flex most rigid

93. And trust in the reward your servant's verse guarantees
For its purity in lips and heart when empty

94. Of lasting good works I train it
In my soul if pure, my heart if empty

95. Pilgrimages that traverse lands bearing
A prayer answered or scattered praise

96. If I clothe Eid in a garment from them
It preens itself in it, lost, imagining

97. And stretch out the hand of one who hopes from your bestowal
Lowering in its sanctity, imploring, supplicating

98. Heralding therefrom that he'll return with it
To you the length of days, life extended

99. This day God gave superiority
As you were of those who carry command most superior

100. So respond on the morning of eternity conveying
Conditions of purpose - never greater festival or eve

101. And be one who breaks fast with righteousness - put on, for Godwariness,
Your reward - and remove your fast, approved

102. The gardens of loftiness luxuriate for you, breaking fast
Or vowed fasting - voluntary or obligatory -

103. Until you see the summits of mountains feasible
For progress, the atmosphere water uninterrupted

104. If a morn breaks and you don't rule over us
The darkness won't split, nor the dawn break
