1. For whom are the tents in the valley alluring,
Flowing down on Nu'man, from them the slopes?

2. Their hands groping the road as if they are
Seaboats in the sea of desolation sailing.

3. The night darkened as they shot arrows to compete,
Until it ended with their defeat wailing.

4. As if the passion is a secret they fear its diffusion,
So some of them sob in lament and weeping.

5. They carried suns in the howdahs hidden,
And the night of travel from them is bright and clear.

6. It complains to them that the mounts are light,
And informs them that the camel litters sway.

7. Among them Mansur, arrows unleashed,
For his eyes to wander and pierce ardent hearts.

8. He flies loftily whom his glances struck down,
When the judgment of just requital is declared.

9. He prohibited me while pilgrimage dress is between us,
And he did not know that hunting in pilgrimage is forbidden.

10. I made a gesture with a group whose earning is disliked,
And it brings forth evil for roving eyes.

11. If those three conceal my love in Mina,
Then the day of departure, my passion will undoubtedly be exposed.

12. I wept but the criticizers did not frown
At the coyness of my love and the flowing tears.

13. I have not seen an eye cured of its sickness,
Nor longing remedied while the advisor is benevolent.

14. Is it of you, daughter of nomads, an apparition donated
By the gift of delusion and the encroaching night?

15. The sands folded until the embrace narrowed between us
While between you and I remains ample space.

16. So he spent the night fearing what you dread riding,
Assaulting and forgiving what you forbid.

17. May God guard a heart that was ever faithful to one who was unjust,
And upheld a pact while pacts are fleeting.

18. And was most generous in loyalty and protecting it
When the wings contract over what they can carry.

19. My excuse from my fate is as if I want it
Peacefully while it is a stubborn opponent.

20. And the company of treacherous friends whose selling
Brings loss even if solitude brings gain.

21. Their brother is the brother of a wicked wolf guiding him
To blood when the winds direct toward it.

22. And a twisting hand that drives me away
While it twists, and the one I shake hands with.

23. The light of my planet illuminates their sights
While its position from the horizon of virtue arises.

24. I sat with deprivation between their backs,
And if my bird of fortune tried it could take flight.

25. I used to frequent Babylon and its green pastures,
Pursued by the rich and singers.

26. I abandoned the expanse of the sea and it turned away,
And I wished for what the clouds water, gushing.

27. If the leap of vigor carried me,
These verses on the water would compete.

28. Then Nasir al-Din would quench what they drew up
Jugs of heat or lips of sweet water.

29. Al-Zawra used to be a dwelling place,
And bounty in which wishes and joys reside.

30. An age of glory preserved in its burial grounds
Weighty, and the scale of merit outweighs.

31. So those beauties were transformed and ended up
In other lands, those elegies.

32. And Oman became for glories a destination
Where the weary broken ones head.

33. In it the kingdom is honest and songs plentiful,
No usury and seekers' efforts fruitful.

34. Its prosperity overflows with dew so it seems
Like meadows while before it was barren.

35. Managed by the noble hands of its builder
Who has unlocked sustenance for people.

36. Its atmosphere cleared of gloom by his justice,
And its somber sorrows turned good.

37. So no other place above the flat earth like it
For heights, though countries are expansive.

38. No king but his distinction from his Lord
Overwhelms if kings are enumerated competing.

39. With the resolve of the reviver of nation
All calamities succumbed to it and disasters submitted.

40. With the best inscription of the kingdom on his forehead,
Dazzling white if sights doubt.

41. When kingdoms are attributed none fear
The embarrassment of claims and no faults disparage him.

42. Of the lofty elite whose might and favors
Repel tribulations and immense adversities.

43. If the time of an affair darkens their command
And prohibition shine like meteors illuminating.

44. For them are the forefronts of precedence in every state,
They are its secret and the pure thoroughbreds.

45. They attain the utmost of what they seek with arms
Whose wrists even the stubborn rock and boulders obey.

46. The roots of glory made triumphant by its branches,
If an auspicious one among them becomes absent, the dawn rises.

47. Good fortune nurtured glory after them
As the heavy rains nurtured the meadow.

48. It flowed their course then perfected with precedence,
While before the tree trunk the little birds stopped.

49. Ambition with determination to subdue the disobedient,
And acknowledge sin with a reconciling handshake.

50. He assumed the pillars of the throne veiled,
Guarded by his sight in east and west watching.

51. The rotations of earth watch his glancing,
As Sirius watched the merry-go-round shining.

52. O you who are departing to carry my request,
Maybe if told of success you will return as a messenger.

53. Prepare in the abode of might a greeting from me,
Its fragrance perfumes the breeze circulating.

54. And say your yearning slave, his covenant did not neglect,
Nor his affection, if intimacy departs fleeing.

55. Who never disappointed the lofty hopes in you,
And no doubts from him did you provoke.

56. You made him needless of others so no
Withholding stranger or granting kindred aided.

57. A heart near, though I am far from Baghdad's water
Whose source churns theлоnging and parting pulling.

58. Every year from your generosity I gain profit
And from your faithful pact, provision and gifts.

59. When gratitude turns its necklace toward it
And praise comes from me reciting poems.

60. It came while the sea's belly was its mount's back,
So it calmed my worries though the ship dashed.

61. Deficiency only increased its abundance,
And purity throughout my exile roaming.

62. It waters the soil of my land and body, desolate,
And produces fruit for my working son.

63. We both were quenched by its pardon and freshness,
Though my captivity held me back and he set out traveling.

64. To God belongs a master whose favor I have
And profitable merchandise passing on my behalf.

65. The caravans of a needy one, their birds soaring.
So order - may God increase your command - broadly

66. As those brilliant natural dispositions habituated.
Support his effort and acknowledge for him a fertile involvement

67. Whose wave crashes shaking the ribs.
I did not increase your blessings but out of necessity

68. Though full moons can still grow fuller.
With what worries weighed my back and doubled

69. The burdens of my life and disasters exposed me.
And what was said of vileness around me like arrows

70. Shooting evil, lit by strikers of the flint.
I wipe off every kindness I was anguished by

71. When they came from me and the accusations whitened.
I was saved in the era of youth from them,

72. And providence burdened me as I grew old.
Kings whose mention of your glory among them

73. Are blemishes in their honor and wounds.
When damned, assemblies pray for you,

74. Your qualities a recitation for them and glorifications.
They were zealous for what they have that faultfinding

75. Tongues diminish their reputations and rising rumors.
Your wealth throughout diverse horizons scattered

76. Its generosity and lasting good deeds.
You were sleepless while people slept from what you saw

77. As if only for the most high were you ambitious.
You followed the coursing of the sea but excelled it,

78. Can the sweet and salty seas be equal?
Lend me an ear ceaselessly made melodious by it

79. When harmonies sing to you eloquently.
And listen to it virginally, if not for you it would not

80. Answer a suitor and time would not allow it to be married.
Of the brilliant stars none were told of its like

81. Souls, nor conveyed to them thoughts.
I appeared with it alone in a time

82. Of poetic barrenness, my proof with it today shining.
Of the honor of poetry is you listening

83. And of graciousness' honor is my praising.
If only I, presenting it in person,

84. Converse reciting to your hearing and discuss.
For vigor to facilitate a migration

85. To treat my longing and nights insomnia.
If only the north winds blow for me

86. Exposing me there to your preying birds.
How can I fly while worries besiege me

87. And my steps falter and nights detain me.
While the cowardice of heart used to hold me back from you

88. But determination supported it against inclinations.
By the sixty I swear that its wounds

89. Do not heal if they spread in one's skin advisor.
I know despite my delight in family and homeland

90. That living with you is ideal.
