1. I knew her by her phantom that graced the distance,
Comforting the longing and gratifying the desirous.

2. She glanced with remnants of tears in my eyelids,
Her gaze softened them, so they flowed as brooks.

3. Her smile flickered in the return of her talk,
And the blossoms shone, gifting Najd with anemones.

4. I stayed awake at night only out of fear
Of an onlooker kindling the lamps of the watchful.

5. You wore springtime atop your faded cheek,
And dawned in your cheeks a pair of anemones.

6. Passion handed over a heart I submitted,
To yearning - though patient and reserved.

7. The blossoms quenched her when showers rained,
Like the magnanimity of the savior of Muslims.

8. May God protect the crown of the righteous, and so
I pray He protects the people and creation.

9. O supporter of the faith, who by his support,
Poetry became distinguished by generosity and stinginess.

10. You possessed a heart enamored by glory,
And gave a heart enamored by bounties.

11. No achievement of greatness, or act of kindness,
Existed unless we found you preceding.

12. If any among them prohibited, you gave abundantly,
If any among them deprived, you provided plentifully.

13. God made you authority over all the west,
To enforce His rule over east and west.

14. You turned away from the shadow of weakness, traveling
The rugged road to glory and bloom.

15. And an embattled, victorious Yemeni tribe,
You unleashed upon the enemies cutting blades.

16. With it you cracked the bone of Iraq, and since then,
It was constantly on their necks with sharpened swords.

17. From it you gathered Khurasan in haste,
When you rallied the erected banners.

18. You advanced the Saffarid cloud over them,
Doubling when you brandished the battleships.

19. By your palm, you hastened the death of enemies, and so
You constricted their lifespans with adversities.

20. If an orator does not know the habit of the pulpit,
With what you wish to hear in a sermon, he is impious.

21. If a coin does not begin among its lines,
With mention of you - a line - it is fraudulent.

22. If anyone claims generosity after you,
Or adorns himself with its name, he is a thief.

23. Whoever seeks to match your bounty with a favor,
Is like one who seeks a creator other than God.

24. He whose land was Khurasan,
And was passionate about it before leaving it.

25. If he schemes destruction, looking to betray,
At gardens flanked by towering trees.

26. It shows him its fruits to appease his greed,
When greed is tempting, it is accompanying.

27. And his soul cautioned him while it corrupted him,
If the enemy advises, they are most sincere.

28. In Mosul, you uprooted the arrogance of its king,
With repeated invasions that turn hair gray.

29. The outskirts of the land protected you from it, yet still,
You roamed its plains and mountain ranges.

30. You recalled the vineyards in its valleys,
With towering trees atop its mounds and hills.

31. You brought from the mountains mountains of Tayy,
Like battlements complaining of overly heavy loads.

32. Thus they remained while their towering heights returned,
When before they were lofty pavilions.

33. When lightning threatens, it exhausts his spear,
As the glance stole from the enamored - thieving.

34. And Aqil drove the tips of its spears,
detachments of their wealth and convoys.

35. While the dogs barked in the bushes, so the foxes
hissed in their dens and burrows.

36. You empowered the men of Iraq with ease
that pours, surge after surge, like thunderbolts.

37. Thus you brought speech to those who were mute,
And muted those who spoke with might.

38. Their thousands shake hands silently,
When before they only knew pounding.

39. And how many citadels in Mashrif you uprooted,
Swept by the winds, crashing boulders.

40. You relied on God’s victory in every abode,
And you were a man who relied on God when reliant.

41. The Commander of the Faithful adorned you with virtues,
Thus you were, O Victorious in Faith, worthy.

42. And He characterized you from among the wilderness as uniquely
devoted,
