1. God granted it an abode and gave it life
After it we folded up pleasures completely
١. سَقاها اللَهُ مَنزِلَةً وَحَيّا
طَوَينا بَعدَها اللَذاتِ طَيّا
2. And days near you passed
As if living through them was bountiful
٢. وَأَياماً بِقُربِكُمُ تَقَضَّت
كَأَنَّ العَيشَ فيها كانَ فَيّا
3. I see the winds have a talk about you
I face them and they dictate it to me
٣. أَرى عِندَ الرِياح لَكُم حَديثاً
أُواجِهُها فَتُمليهِ عَليّا
4. I'm jealous when the branches lean toward them
Fearing they will tell something about you
٤. أَغارُ إِذا الغُصونُ صَغَت اليَها
مَخافَةَ أَن سَتَحكي مِنهُ شَيّا
5. When they blow, I load them with a sigh
So it returns, its fragrance good and moist
٥. إِذا هَبَّت أُحمِّلُها زَفيراً
فَيَرجِعُ وَقرُها طيباً وَرَيّا
6. As if cautiously, because of a watcher
She walks secretly at night to me
٦. كَأَنَّ بِها حِذاراً مِن رَقيب
فَتَسري خيفَةً لَيلاً اليّا
