1. Is it not enough how you two evade each other
Yet you still resent nothing but your fervent love

2. O you who shame the bough, no boredom can dissuade you
Passionately swayed by every gust of wind

3. To the imprisoned moon in my shackles I awoke
A captive of fate - to destiny enslaved

4. At night I envy his sweet scent
And in the morn those who evenly divide

5. O bearer of comfort and relief in your mouth
Leave what little life remains in your hands

6. Is not your secret veiled over your sturdy palms
Why care if you’re falsely accused

7. Why be angry if slanderers spew their lies
When you know I do not act thus

8. I attained not your union if what they claimed were true
Nor quenched my thirst the generosity of Ibn Ruzzayk

9. Guide of all guides, best of men, your least gift
Surpasses my greatest wishes

10. A thousand he slays, yet he defeats them
A thousand he gives, and he enriches you

11. Dispeller of the mighty gloom that befell
A people shaded by your patronage

12. You surpassed all before any could rival you
Neither ancient souls nor modern equal you

13. You saw the paths of glory undiscovered
Had another strived, he too could have trodden your footsteps

14. Kings fear your reproach and distance their abode
Men plead poverty to seek your favour

15. The hopeful complain to you of their destitution
Then relent as the state treasury laments you

16. With an elephant filling the lands with his roaring
Stalwart pillars are humbled for him

17. The honorable man meets his wealth plundered
While the rascal finds money pouring forth

18. You made iron soft as water honed it
God created the like of iron in you as a warrior

19. Deaf to blame, they come not to his summons
But if you call for war, they answer you

20. You dispatched them to the heathen horde
They saw obeying you as the greatest spoils

21. They marched unto death as if it were
No path ever trodden or known

22. They made the throats of the enemy their cup
And trampled the skulls of the archers

23. Striking and stabbing they boldly advance
Shattering mail and piercing interwoven coats of armor

24. In every corner of the enemy's land
A bereaved kinsman weeps but for you

25. Yesterday kings led captives, today
A lion returned them to you enslaved

26. None escaped save those in an impregnable redoubt
Spurred by you to gallop and take flight

27. O Kaaba of munificence, poverty has anchored me
My straitened means hinder my sacred duty to you

28. Your departed pilgrims bequeathed me hope
Of your magnanimity in requesting your aid

29. My journey hopes for none but you, O bounty of time
Without you, to my family I return empty-handed

30. I see the plains watered while pleased
Your orchards are equally irrigated
