1. He did not stop when horses reared in fear,
Nor flinch when swords were bared,
١. وَما كانَ وَقّافاً إِذا الخَيلُ أَحجَمَت
وَما كانَ مِبطاناً إِذا ما تَجَرَّدا
2. Much smoke may come from an empty pot,
Which makes it no less once flames have fled.
٢. كَثيرُ رَمادِ القِدرِ غَيرُ مُلَعَّنٍ
وَلا مُؤيِسٍ مِنها إِذا هُوَ أَخمَدا
