1. By al-Lat and al-Uzza, and she whose faith they share,
And Allah—Allah is greater than them all.
١. وَبِاللاتِ وَالعُزّى وَمَن دانَ دَينَها
وَبِاللَهِ إِنَّ اللَهَ مِنهُنَّ أَكبَرُ
2. I fear the neighing horses in their swift gallop,
And a jealous Lord whose face becomes enraged,
٢. أُحاذِرُ نَجَّ الخَيلِ فَوقَ سَراتِها
وَرَبّاً غَيوراً وَجهُهُ يَتَمَعَّرُ
3. With oxen crafted in Yathrib, locked shut,
And the dark-skinned, crescent moon of Hilal set to wander.
٣. وَذو بَقَرٍ مِن صُنعِ يَثرِبَ مُقفَلٌ
وَأَسمَرُ داناهُ الهِلالِيُّ يَعتِرُ

فَلا بُرءَ مِن ضَبّاءَ وَالزَيتُ يُعصَرُ
