1. We obeyed our Lord while a people disobeyed Him
So we tasted the flavor of our obedience, and they tasted

2. Thus fortune inclined toward us with both its sides
Upon a throne, and thus the horizons inclined toward us

3. As if our steeds were in the pasturage of locusts
Locusts to which the leaves had given obedience
