1. If you, O ornament of literature,
Are the ornament of letters, your book is the ornament of books.
١. إِذا كُنتَ يا زَينُ زَينَ الأَدَب
فَإنَّ كتابكَ زَينُ الكُتُب
2. You have adorned the chest of eloquence with necklaces,
And with them encircled the brows of the Arabs.
٢. قَلائِدُ حَلَّيتَ صدرَ البيان
بهنَّ وَطوَّفت جيدَ العرَب
3. Creation is clothed in the breeze of gardens
When it smiles at the weeping of clouds.
٣. خلائِقُ تُزرى بنَفحِ الرِياض
إِذا ضحكَت من بكاءِ السُحُب
4. Man is but of noble character,
Not of what adolescent folly he harbors.
٤. وَما المَرءُ إِلّا بخُلقٍ كريم
وَليسَ بما قد حَوى من نَشَب
