1. The zeal for leadership on a noble steed
Had filled his eyes and hearing

The full moon set from its highest point

3. Virtues weep for Peter
That magnanimous, glorious hero

4. I searched when I could not find my match
Worthy to weep with me over excellence

6. O eyes pouring the tears of agony like seas
Overtake them, O pourer of tears

7. O you who descended amidst the deputations of affliction
And befriended them, O desolate one

8. My eyes are Coptic toward you today
Assuaging sorrow over an afflicted Muslim

9. It wanders from anguish and from torment
In the left side of my ribs

10. And takes righteousness and verses of loyalty
From the good, eloquent Book

11. O you who let me drink the wine of his love
This is all my love, so hurry
