يا أيذا الفيصل المزجى زواجره

1. O Faisal, when his anger is aroused
The ship is directed and the moth's garment is worn

١. يا أَيُّذا الفَيصَلُ المُزجى زَواجِرهُ
صوبَ السَفينِ وَثَوبُ السَوسِ سَربَلَهُ

2. I complain to you of your folly, that you may desist
From spite which was once wholesome, now each is sated with his sating

٢. أَشكوكَ كُوكَكَ كَي يَنفكَّ عن جَنفٍ
قد كان كَلّاً وَكلٌّ ملَّ كَلكَلَهُ

3. He has refused me, and the wood of her ribs is a painful cramming
If the ship's timber touches the wretched one, it totters him

٣. أَباتَني وَالجِرِشّي حَشوُها ضَجَرٌ
إن مَسَّ شَقِيَّ خُشبُ الفُلكِ قَلقَلَهُ

4. Shame on her, blackened cheeks and lips
They have milked me of my blood-wit, with no movement in it

٤. أُفٍّ لها دُجيَةً شوساً أَساوِدُها
صَرَعنَ مِنِّيَ صِلّاً لا حِراكَ لهُ

5. The lute and the reeds are better for the jilted lover who seeks diversion
Than one whose cheek and lip are withered in gloom

٥. لَلعَودُ والنابُ في وَعثاءِ وَخدِهما
خيرٌ لِمُعلوِّطٍ يَبغي تَرَحُّلَه
