1. I saw the kings of the earth in every land,
And I saw what people do not see in people.

2. I traveled east and west, my steads I guided,
Oblivious were my companions, far my horses raced.

3. Yet no creature of mankind did I find,
Whose merit would exceed Al-Muizz ibn Mirdas.
