1. The rain clouds watered the lands of life with abundant rain,
Lands with twisting roads,

2. May God protect the twisting roads,
To the martyr's tomb and beyond,

3. To the high flags of glory,
To what faces the open desert from watchful eyes,

4. To the monastery overlooking the summit of the river,
To the register whose depths spew dust,

5. To Kendyia and the rugged valleys,
To Azba and its brick fortresses,

6. To where the tamarisk and lotus tree grow,
To Al-Raqqa, Marjain, and Al-Burjain and crossing,

7. To the eastern banks of Siffin,
And the march of armies sluggish,

8. To the plateau and what lies beyond,
Of flatland and uneven terrain,

9. To Al Qarah, Ad-Dayrayn, Al-‘Ubayran, and Ath-Thahr,
To the monument, the stair, and the yellow sands,

10. To As-Sabhah, An-Nuqrah and the flowing spring,
To the living district where glory and triumph settled,

11. To the citadel and palace blessed among palaces,
Abode of masters, pride, and glory,

12. You see them in the sky of might like brilliant stars,
Circling the full moon and shining sun,

13. When the Master raises his banner,
The Master, whose banner sails,

14. My father Al-‘Ulwan, Lord of generosity and plenty,
A youth perfumed with praise, enriched beyond perfume,

15. If you are his neighbor, fear not poverty,
His hands touch rock and water flows from stone,

16. We saw him peerless in generosity in good and bad times,
We toured the world from far Khorasan to Egypt,

17. And saw one who gives and another who withholds,
We measured generosity against generosity,

18. And fine repute against repute,
Until we came upon the son of the glorious King,

19. The best of the people of this time,
We are not shy to profess,

20. And those before in ancient times,
When we smell the scent of his palms,

21. It enriches us beyond rainwater,
A generous one born to his mother

22. On the night of the decree,
Embodying pure ancestry and lineage,

23. Of few faults and doubts,
Abundant in giving and plenty,

24. Of unsullied honor, untouched by shame and disgrace,
So ask me, for I have become knowledgeable,

25. He clothes himself in humility, bare of arrogance,
The just one, the impartial,

26. Turning from the evils of the wretched and vile,
He is the star guiding those who sail the earth,

27. He is the sea, none can fathom his depth,
This is pure, fresh water,

28. Healthy buds and breast,
You see people making pilgrimage,

29. To his pouring rains,
As caravans flocked to the spring,

30. He rose in destiny and rank,
Beyond the status of the elite,

31. His glories left him without need for poet or poem,
So neither my praise benefits him,

32. Nor does my thanks elevate him,
The dawn's glow needs no proof of sunrise,

33. A man well-known, more than my verse and prose,
If I fall short or my mind fails me, it is due to my excuse,

34. Nay! The Merciful is He who creates the unseen and the seen,
And paved my way and facilitated my affair,

35. And showered me until my blossoms thrived,
And I professed His blessings in public and seclusion,

36. As the meadows praise the rain,
My Lord who judges with fairness in prohibition and command,

37. A year passes after a year,
And a month after a month,

38. Yet you remain constantly under divine protection and veil,
You are the benevolent, the beautiful, in hardship and ease,

39. The defender, the preventer,
Of the inhabitants of these borderlands,

40. May God keep you forever joyful in my eye and breast,
You have lasted and outlasted,

41. Beyond my power and means,
You have drawn near and enriched me,

42. And provided until the resurrection,
And secured from harm those born of my loins,

43. While through your blessings I have thrived,
And did not hope to thrive,

44. And with your increased years, God increased my life,
I will reward you, though neither my coat nor mitre can reward you,

45. And I will gift you lasting praise,
Throughout the ages of time,

46. And attributes it broadcasts far and wide,
For only repute remains in this life,

47. And what is within it, save remembrance.
