1. For whom is there a constitution like the line of bees,
Whose chastity the decrepit and the zephyr wasted away,

2. And every sweet-smelling fruit juice,
Has a cadaver like the cadaver of the burial shrouds?

3. You see the lightning laugh in its atmosphere,
And until you see it crying abundantly,

4. It descends from the camels what is in the sheep-folds,
And conceals from the land what is in the dens,

5. So the planets became brilliant because of its dampness,
Like the hiding places in the folds of the valleys,

6. The landmarks were devoid of their beauty, oh people,
And they became compensated with magnificence,

7. My covenant with it while it was the asylum of well-being,
So it became while it was the asylum of the hollows,

8. We asked its Lord about the wailers,
So the answer was the answer of the reverberations,

9. And once we were groping in the bright nights,
While the dawn was hiding underneath the darkness,

10. I gave the caravan a cup of drowsiness to drink,
And the wolf sang to them when it howled,

11. I say to them and the heads of the camels
Were as if the spittle of insects were on them,

12. While we and they were like the hump of tattered garment
From the length of tribulation which maimed us,

13. Rest a little, for beneath the shelters,
There are successive rests, in which languor is awed,

14. So when we descended to one of the barren lands,
We complained to the wilderness about the length of the journey,

15. And we stood lamenting the creep of twilight,
Between the hills and between the valleys,

16. And there appeared to us at the face of the morning,
Encampments from below the thickets of heat,

17. Inclining on it with blameworthy,
Having two flames like embers of coal,

18. In it pure-white bellies of vessels,
Flowing like heads of outstretched necks,

19. It has a garment like the wing of a dark bird,
White at the lower parts, red at the higher parts,

20. So when it saw us, it saw the likes of it,
Weak bellies because of the abundance of journeying,

21. So it roared until you saw the valleys
Quaking with its voice and the ruins,

22. And it walked toward youths,
Who were frightened of it and of the return,

23. So they moved toward an old she-camel decisively,
Whereupon one confronted it while the other shot arrows,

24. We hurried with the supplies toward the caravan -
Beast of the desert and lion of evildoing -

25. And we remained biting that shirt of mail
And eating from a slaughtered calf what was roasted,

26. So when we were satiated, we fed the beasts
Remnants similar to the remnants of roasting,

27. And we set out wading with it in the mirage,
Long of necks, long of slaughters,

28. To a king who surpassed the position of kings,
So he was wealth and they were earth,

29. He built and they built the steps of favors,
So what he built lasted longer than what they built,

30. So when we arrived at Abu Salih,
We arrived at the greatest of earth’s kings,

31. A young man who surpassed people in favors,
To an extent no range has included,

32. Noble in chastity, chaste in loincloth,
Insightful without the path of error,

33. Glory and favors befit him,
And his nicknames and titles prove truthful,

34. So whatever good people do,
Al-Muizz was first in initiating that,

35. He wishes - far be it from him - that
His guest’s present be brought forward in homes,

36. And how often fertility was absent in a country,
So he took its place in the manner of life,

37. He bought supplies with money from its importers,
And they spent the night so he fed them what he bought.

38. So ask how much his palm dispersed
Of money in the collection of this structure,

39. If you want to count Al-Muizz’s good deeds,
Then count the stars and count the pebbles,

40. And if you count them you will meet his authenticated
Increase over that with examples,

41. He graced me with his bounties before kings,
And favor is only for he who has initiated,

42. His good graced me and the fine thing is that
When it is with a gracious one, it is graced,

43. Oh Abu Salih, if I am absent from your exaltation,
Then your heart is witness to my devotion,

44. And that my life when I do not see you
Is life, and my death - I see it as equal,

45. Your beauty expanded for me the means of life,
And made me hope for the building of homes,

46. And you, with your grace, made me
Go away so I gather from it enjoyments,

47. And which land have I set my course for
Except that your riches have sufficed me in it?

48. So I have from your help a springtime there,
And I have from your help a springtime here,

49. You were rewarded for praise and those who praise
And the people of your world - the best reward,

50. For you defended the frontiers
And warded off enmity from them with your sword,

51. And you taught the people of generosity
How is generosity and how is giving,

52. May your Eid be congratulated and congratulated
To the people of this wilderness - this congratulation,

53. And live as long as you wish - friend of happiness,
Friend of good fortune, friend of remaining,
