1. You have trodden on the religion of God with might,
The everlasting poet's robes for Him are rags.
١. لَقَد أَوطَأتَ دينَ اللَّهِ عِزّاً
أَديمُ الشِّعريَيْنِ له رغامُ
2. He called you when hardships pulled and tore,
For Him misfortunes are gifts the fates dispense.
٢. دَعاكَ وَقَد تَناوَشتِ الرّزايا
له أُهباً يوزّعها العذامُ
3. So you rose up defending Him while men were lost,
A rising that blamed what evil bands had wrought.
٣. فَقُمْتَ بِنَصرِهِ وَالنّاسُ فَوضى
قِيامٌ ذَمَّ ما اِقتَرَفَت فِئامُ
4. You dragged its glory from the pit of oblivion,
Above the span of time its banners glory sought.
٤. جَذَبتَ بِضَبْعِهِ مِن قَعْرِ يَمٍّ
لَهُ مِن فَوقِ مقسمِهِ اِلْتِطامُ
5. Upon the cross you poured crosses of disaster,
Beneath its swaying its destiny conquest brought.
٥. صَبَبتَ عَلى الصّليبِ صَليبَ بَأسٍ
قُواهُ تَحتَ كَلْكَلِهِ خطامُ
6. You turned against their fortresses and down they came,
As systems topple when their rules are turned to naught.
٦. وَمِلْتَ عَلى مَعاقِلِهم فَخَرَّت
ولاءً مِثلَ ما اِنتقَضَ النّظامُ
7. At Sarchad and Khataym, and at Azaz too,
Events which stunned the throngs who watched them fought,
٧. بِصَرخَد والخَطيمِ وفي عِزازٍ
وَقائعَ هَزَّ مَشهَدها الأنامُ
8. Were you not to free Raqqa and take Damascus,
No Iraq or Levant would see the morrow's dawn.
٨. وَلَو لَم تَعتَرِق وَتشم لَأَمسى
وأَصبَحَ لا عِراقَ ولا شَآمُ
9. A day at Urayma that spelt doom for pagans,
Where rebels were served death as their ordered lot.
٩. وَيَومٌ بِالعُرَيْمَةِ كانَ حتْفاً
عَلى الإِشراكِ أَمقَرهُ العرامُ
10. They found you like poured steel no fire could soften,
No prince of Khor could ever weaken or besot.
١٠. لَقُوك كأنّ ما سَلّوهُ سَيحٌ
وَما اِعتَقلوهُ مِن خورٍ ثمامُ
11. Tabuk, Dhat Atlah, Hunayn you condemned,
Though you are gentle with believers without fault.
١١. وَهاب وقُورس وبِكفرِلاثا
ذَممتَ وَأَنت لِلجليّ ذمامُ
12. You smashed them with the swinging of joined ranks,
As though your cavalry's neighs were storm clouds brought.
١٢. صَدمتَهمُ بِأرعَنَ مُرجحِنٍّ
كَأنَّ مَطارَ أنْسُره غمامُ
13. And what a night when you did not bestow on them
An apparition to haunt their dreams with thoughts!
١٣. وَأيَّةُ لَيلَةٍ لَم تلفَ فيها
لَهم طَيفاً يَروعُ بِهِ مَنامُ
14. With the light of faith you lit each torch of justice,
Corruption in the dust by you was caught.
١٤. بِنورِ الدينِ أنشر كلُّ عَدلٍ
تَعَفَّت في الثّرى مِنهُ الرمامُ
15. Right returned after the darkness of wrongs,
Safe from the errors of stumblers without thought.
١٥. وَعادَ الحَقُّ بَعدَ كَلالِ حدٍّ
حمىً مِن أَن تُراعَ لَهُ سُوامُ
16. Your justice shone, your authority blazed,
No fear of tyranny or misrule was wrought.
١٦. تَألَّقَ عَدلُهُ وذَكت سُطاهُ
فَلا حَيفٌ يخافُ وَلا اِهتِضامُ
17. Your continuance is the best hope of hopes,
The greatest gift that time to men has brought.
١٧. بَقاؤُكَ خَيرُ ما يَرجوهُ راجٍ
وَأَنفَعُ ما يُبَلّ بِهِ أُوامُ
