1. The horses, the best equipment of the generous,
Prepare for trouble their readying.

2. They neigh, so their mouths foam,
They paw the ground, so their hooves spark.

3. Why did you not leave from what you invaded
Hearts enduring their defeat?

4. Is it not in the articulated verses of the Quran
That war will lay down its burdens?

5. May this defender ward off
That its lairs penetrate.

6. No day of one whose glory is unique
Whose tongues decline its poetry.

7. And where are the speakers of what you did
Even if the rain increased its downpour?

8. So how many defeated ones have been brought after you
So your pride crumbled its pottery!

9. You have restored in this era of yours
The openings of the Prophet and his times.

10. You have trodden, may you be rewarded, its heights
And you have triumphed through the light of its full moons.

11. Its emigrants were your followers
And the supporters of your opinion were its supporters.

12. So you renewed Islam's well-being
And your grandfather rebuilt its buildings.

13. No day of the son of 'Inab except like you
Nay, but misfortune has prolonged its duration.

14. And your brilliant days after him
Return the straying to the fold.

15. And when you roared at Buṣrā you reddened
With the dust of your horses the sights.

16. A day against Jawan's bioom, disgrace raised its cry
You hit it a blow

17. That melted its rocks with the water.
So at daybreak you raided its settlements

18. And at evening you took captive its virgins.
And at Tadmur you met them

19. With an onslaught that climbed its walls.
And if their dalliance seduced them, yet

20. You affirmed and fulfilled its reports.
And the conflagration blazed until you rose

21. Against it and it turned its backs.
Famed scenes embroidered

22. Upon the page of time its lines,
The songs delight in chanting them

23. And travel chronicles their journeys.
You built for the pilgrims' delegation a Kaaba

24. Whose curtains give refuge to the suspended.
You possessed the earth dusty

25. As if telling its stories.
So you continued to subdue until you erased

26. Its glitter and radiance shone.
You reached and strengthened its weak

27. You reached and humiliated its tyrant.
You donned the necklace from a signet of wisdom

28. Upon the neck of fate its circlets.
So you set right, and justice spread
