1. O you who chase what's gone, leave it be
A crooked branch won't grow straight, you see

2. Regret won't help when you bemoan your plight
A snake-bitten hole, don't go back, take flight

3. Look closely at my Lord's creations and ponder
How state after state He decreases and increases in splendor

4. God gives the afflicted consolation and cure
And all are bounded by the limits their hearts endure
