1. It does no harm if the one who owns my heart
Turns away for a time and abandons his affection,

3. Why should I complain of him entirely,
When he startles my heart and drives it from its lair,

Veiled from his glory, hidden from his secret.

He would be pleased and quench its burning thirst,

6. I would not name him the sun in his rising,
But rather the full moon in its gentle light.

7. He gave the gazelle a glance of coquetry,
And clothed the lovely gazelle in his radiance,

8. He stayed in my heart and lit his fire,
While the roses pleaded in vain for his care.

9. Beautiful traits plead while he spurns them,
Bewildered, they cry out to the beloved in censure,

10. I wanted more of his beautiful union,
But his disdain only increased his mystery

11. Oh critic, you have done no wrong but come,
With a reminder of him as intercessor.
