1. May Allah foil the effort of Awf, son of Hosn,
When he turned the women of Ruqqa into merchandise.
١. خيَّب اللهُ سَعيَ أَوفى بنِ حصنٍ
حينَ أضحى فَرّوجَةَ الرقَّاءِ
2. Misery and misfortune led him to the lair
Of a deaf viper and a blind serpent.
٢. قادَهُ الحَينَ والشقاءُ إلى لي
ث عرين وحيَّةٍ صَمَّاءِ
