1. To which time are you, oh companion of night vigil
And you become infatuated in every valley

2. And the tears are flowing profusely
And the fire of passion is igniting in the heart

3. So what is this reminiscence and my yearning
And that fire except like the flint

4. When will it shine, sparkling, or otherwise
The secret of an inextinguishable fire is concealed

5. Passion has been planted in the blackness of my heart
With love and affection

6. And I watered it with the tears of my eyes
As the valleys are watered with floods

7. So when it was time I said to it, “Pluck it!”
But it said, “Eternal, even unto the time of calling”

8. I rode the ship of passions sailing
On the sea of tears for the struggle

9. The struggle of love, then I passed my night
The companion of love and the stock of my supplies

10. So when I attained it and coveted it
It swung at me with the spears of separation

11. Whenever I descended into the valley and was prevented
You are another, an emerging huntress

12. And when I saw that I pulled away from it
My reigns, then it had my submission

13. I pulled away before that and after being mean
To my patroness so I can attain my wish

14. So when I saw that attaining union from her
Was distant, beyond it the camel litter was torn

15. To praise the Greatest in the wild
I pulled away for that was my guidance

16. So say what you wish of praise and thanks
For nothing besides prophethood in it is manifest

17. So say if you wish the possessor of knowledge and might
And say if you wish the pourer of hands

18. And whoever seeks steeds from horses
He gives him from the horses, the steeds

19. And whoever fears enemies wherever they are
Suffices what he fears from the enemies

20. And whoever makes him his enemy, he destroys him suddenly
As God did to the people of Aad

21. You see the healthy ones habitually
At the door in times of distress like locusts

22. If they increase, his generosity increases fold
And if they decrease, he remains in increase

23. So neither Saḥnūn resembles him in knowledge
Nor Abū al-Zinād in narration

24. Nor Al-Jīlī in an impregnable secret
Nor in nearness to the Lord of lords

25. By God, the son of Sidq has not heard
Of your like in cities and lands

26. The most eminent of people to God if asked
And greatest in sanctity on the Day of Calling

27. He helps swiftly whoso prays through him
Alike in closeness and distance

28. The whales have certainly witnessed for you openly
Despite the envious and all who call

29. And the planets of heaven and what they contain
That you will have no parallel in the lands

30. And whoever compares you measures a camel
Bringing us camels from ashes

31. And the upshot of my being human eye
Is that you are uniquely supreme

32. I came to you bankrupt and disgraced
And ways of corruption made me lose my way

33. Help me O pillar and bestow favor upon me
For if you do not help, you would have been my reliance

34. Upon the Guide, the Trustworthy, and the one after him
Prayers as long as the riding beasts have a guide

35. And the enemy has not said Saḥād a night vigil
To which time are you, oh companion of my night vigil
