1. The abodes where we once met have changed,
As clouds pour down their weeping rain.

2. When the south wind disappears in its grief,
The north wind appears to take its place.

3. Whenever I come to these houses, they greet me with nightingales,
And tears of stars flow down my cheeks.

4. These abodes, to the axis of existence, are our streaming tears
Flowing with favor on all things that exist.

5. None equals him, neither ink nor youth -
An Imam whose noble traits stand ready.

6. He attained all knowledge before maturity,
And wonders of knowledge became clear to him.

7. Noble, protector, pure and purifying,
A refuge when doctrines grow constricted.

8. Merciful and kind to all the poor,
And a keen sword among sheathed blades.

9. An ocean whose water whoever wishes may draw,
A light whose radiance pierces the darkness.

10. What are clouds when they pour down rain,
And what is the sea when ships sail upon it,

11. Compared to his munificence when the sky grows dark
And none remains but the toiling ant?

12. If you wish the desires of your soul,
And to take what you long for,

13. Then pledge yourself to him, your soul and wealth completely,
And fulfill the covenant that binds you.

14. For him is an abode loftier than any abode,
Ranks above the heavens, ever rising.

15. For him, a peace flowing over creation eternally,
Its blessings descending like stars on the faithful.

16. You see every poor man turning hopefully to the Shaykh,
As every tyrant shrinks in fear from him.

17. The like of the Imam of mankind is not to be found,
Neither present nor absent is he.

18. He inherited the streaming tears of our eyes,
And so his traits and virtues were perfected.

19. His virtues, no praiser has enumerated,
And he who attempts to count them lies.

20. By your eminence, all my needs are fulfilled,
For with you I am not deprived in either world.

21. Blessings on the Chosen One, Ahmad your ancestor,
Peace be upon him forever, ongoing.

22. And so his household and companions, as long as stars shine down
And the waterwheel draws water from the well.
