1. Let me be, for madness has stuck with me

١. دَعْني فإنَّ غَريمَ العَقلِ لازَمَني
وذا زَمانُكَ فامْرَحْ فيهِ لا زَمَني
2. Youth has passed with what I loved of pleasures
And old age has come with what I hated of tribulations
٢. ولَّى الشَّبابُ بِما أحْبَبْتُ مِنْ مِنَحٍ
والشَّيْبُ وافى بَما أبغَضْتُ مِنْ مِحَنِ
3. So what I disliked has lodged with me and reproached me
And what I coveted has since evaded me
٣. فما كرهْتُ ثَوى عِندي وعنَّفَني
وما حرِصْتُ علَيهِ مُنْذُ عَنَّ فَنِي
