1. And your determination withered with age
Yet it was not their right that they wither
١. وَهَت عزماتُكَ عندَ المشيبِ
وما كانَ من حَقِّها أن تَهِي
2. You denied yourself when you grew old
So now, you are not you, nor is it the same
٢. وأنكَرتَ نفسَكَ لما كَبِرتَ
فلا هِيَ أَنتَ ولا أَنتَ هِي
3. And if the desires of the soul are mentioned
It desires nothing but to desire
٣. وإن ذُكِرَت شهواتُ النفوسِ
فما تشتهي غيرَ أن تشتهِي
