1. What excuse for one who fasts from it a couple
While I have been deprived of it for a day of breaking fast
١. أيُّ عُذْرِ أنْ صامَ عنه ثنائي
وأنا الدَّهرُ مِنهُ في يَومِ فِطْرِ
2. And the most complete of things in light and beauty
Is gratitude offered early to the in-laws
٢. وأتمُّ الأشياءِ نُوراً وحُسْناً
بِكْرُ شُكُرٍ زُفَّتْ إلى صِهرِ بِرِّ
3. No pairing of good fortune is more wondrous and lofty
In appearance than pairing gratitude and thanks
٣. ما قِرانُ السَّعْدَيْنِ أبهى وأعلى
مَنظَراً مِن قِرانِ بِرٍّ وشُكْرِ
