1. They say a man's memory remains through his offspring
Yet he has no memory if he has no offspring
١. يقولونَ ذِكرُ المَرءِ يبقى بنَسلِهِ
وليسَ لهُ ذكرٌ إذا لم يكُنْ نَسْلُ
2. So I said to them, "My wisdom's bequests
Are for those who find joy in offspring, and through them we beget"
٢. فقلْتُ لُهمْ ودائعُ حكَمتي
فَمنْ سرَّه نَسلٌ فإنّا به نَسلو
