أسأت إلى نفسي وطامنت من قدري

1. I did wrong unto myself and was at ease with my fate
So let the riches of your noble character rule my poverty

١. أسأْتُ إلى نَفسي وطامَنْتُ من قَدري
فَحَكِّمْ غِنى أخلاقِكَ الغُرِّ في فَقري

2. For the mind is but a ring whose gemstone you are
And your pardon the engraving - so stamp my excuse with it

٢. فما العقلُ إلا خاتمٌ أنتَ فصُّهُ
وعفوُكَ نقشُ الفصِّفاختِمْ بهِ عُذري
