1. O you who break promises, how much do you spurn me
And you who excell in poetry, how much do you satirize me
١. يا مُخلِفَ الميعادِ كْم تَجْفُوني
وَمُجَوِّدَ الإنشادِ كَمْ تَهْجُوني
2. Do you not see the one in the desert being harsh
So you blame his harshness in your poetry except for me
٢. أفما ترى في ذي البَريَّةِ قاسياً
فتَذُمَّ قَسوَتَهُ بِشِعركَ دُوني
3. I have never intentionally avoided praising you
So with what sin do you now avoid me
٣. مَا إنْ عدَوْتُكَ في ثَنائي عامِداً
فبِأَيِّ ذَنبٍ فيهِ قَد تَعدُوني
4. I am thankful for the gentleness in extending a hand so how much
Do you complain about me to the esteemed leader
٤. أنا شاكِرٌ للعُرْفِ نَشْرَ يَدٍ فكَمْ
عِندَ العَميدِ المُرتضى تَشكُوني
5. O you who are harsh and the Qaf in it is a dot
And in your poetry you expose me to humiliation
٥. يا قاسِياً والقافُ مِنهُ نُقطَةٌ
ومُعَرِّضاً في شِعرِهِ للهُونِ
6. Have mercy on an old man sincerely devoted to your love
His time has been spent obsessed with your love
٦. رِفْقاً بشَيخٍ في ودادكَ مُخلصٌ
بِهَواكَ طُلَ زَمانِهِ مَفتونُ
